Ms. Nguyễn Thị Ngọc Linh (born 1977) is the head of the household and works as a hired laborer. She has two sons: Nguyễn Quang Lưu (born 2003), who works as a hired laborer, and Nguyễn Thành Luân (born 2006), who is currently in prison. Ms. Linh is a member of Thiện Chí Center’s disadvantaged household group. For more than five years in the program, she has always worked hard to raise her children and take care of her family.
Her family has 300 dragon fruit pillars. Her husband used to tend them while she sold fruits such as bananas, jackfruit, and pomelos around the neighborhood, earning about 200,000 VND per day. She thought her life would remain simple, but a series of major tragedies struck.
In 2022, her husband was diagnosed with a terminal illness and passed away, leaving her with a large debt. Although she felt hopeless at times, she continued to persevere for her two children. In 2023, her younger son accidentally dropped his money and asked the person who found it to return it, but they refused. Unable to control his anger, he hit the person and was reported. The court sentenced him to six years in prison, and he has served two years so far.
Just when she thought the worst was over, another tragedy occurred in November 2025. Her eldest son was attacked at home by a neighbor due to a conflict and had his left leg severed. When she rushed him to the hospital, she had only 1,000,000 VND. She borrowed 7,000,000 VND from neighbors to take him to Chợ Rẫy Hospital for reattachment surgery, but he had no health insurance because she could not afford it. Doctors said the operation would cost 30 million VND. Ms. Linh broke down in tears, overwhelmed by heartbreak and everything she had endured.
In this desperate situation, she hopes to receive support from kind-hearted donors to help her family overcome their difficulties.
