SPRING FAIR FILLED WITH LAUGHTER AT THIEN CHI CENTER

In the joyful atmosphere of the days leading up to Lunar New Year, Thien Chi Center organized a Spring Fair for children with special educational needs — a meaningful playground where the children could have fun, gain hands-on experiences, and immerse themselves in the warmth of spring.

On that day, the center’s courtyard was filled with bright spring colors and cheerful laughter. The game booths were creatively designed and tailored to each child’s abilities. Familiar yet exciting games such as lotto cards, ball tossing, mouse-in-the-hole, vegetable picking, and football attracted enthusiastic participation. Each activity not only brought joy but also helped the children develop motor skills, reflexes, concentration, and teamwork.

A special highlight of the fair was that the children could purchase game tickets at the counter. Upon completing challenges or achieving good results, they received winning tickets to exchange for gifts at the prize booth. This activity helped them practice waiting, making choices, communicating, and following rules — essential social skills in special education and intervention.

The fair became even warmer with the devoted support of parents. They not only assisted their children in joining the games but also encouraged and accompanied them in overcoming initial shyness. Many touching moments were witnessed as the children became more confident and brave in each activity.

The Spring Fair was not merely a day of entertainment, but an inclusive playground where children could participate in group activities, learn to interact with peers, and feel that they are part of a community. Laughter echoed throughout the center, and the joyful sparkle in their eyes as they held small gifts reflected the meaningful impact of the program.

Thien Chi Center believes that every positive experience today helps nurture confidence and life skills for the children’s future. Though the Spring Fair has come to an end, the joy and love continue to spread, motivating the ongoing journey of supporting children with special educational needs.

In recent years, more children with special educational needs have been identified. However, not all families have the financial capacity to access early intervention services from the beginning. Many parents delay assessment and support because they lack information or worry about the cost. In reality, early intervention not only supports children’s cognitive and behavioral development but also helps reduce the long-term economic burden on families.
