SUPPORT FOR MS. NGUYEN THI LANH IN HAMLET 7 – NAM CHINH

Ms. Lanh and her husband, Mr. Nam, currently reside in Hamlet 7, Nam Chinh commune. Their house, built on a plot of land given by their parents, includes four members (the couple and their two school-aged children).

Ms. Lanh suffers from severe diabetes, hyperthyroidism, tricuspid valve regurgitation, and physical debilitation, and has been undergoing treatment for the past five years. Her health is weak, rendering her unable to work, and due to complications from her illnesses, her vision has been gradually deteriorating. She can only sit for 5-10 minutes before becoming tired and needing to lie down. Her husband has to manage all the household activities. He is the main breadwinner, working hard to support his sick wife for the past five years. Their income just covers daily expenses, and they have to borrow money for her medical treatment, leaving Ms. Lanh without adequate nutrition and medication for her recovery.

Seeing her condition, Thien Chi staff visited her family and provided nutritional supplements to help her combat her illnesses. After one month of using the supplements, her condition improved. She feels healthier and is now able to handle household chores for her husband and children. The family is happier, and her husband is more motivated to work and support the family.

Recently, the project collaborated with the Bac Ruong Commune People's Committee to organize an awareness campaign on tobacco harm prevention and environmental protection. The event attracted approximately 1,200 participants, including 200 local officials, public employees, staff from Thien Chi Center, and around 1,000 community members.

Smoking not only harms smokers themselves but also affects those around them through secondhand smoke, especially children and pregnant women.
