Arriving in Tanh Linh

Yesterday, I arrived at another location of the Thien Chi Center, this time in Tanh Linh. The town is located in the mountains, about 100 km away from Phan Thiet, and the bus ride took around two hours.

One of the staff members picked me up at the bus station and took me to my hotel, which had already been arranged for me. I then had some time until the afternoon to explore the neighborhood a little and get settled before heading to the office.

The daily routine in Tanh Linh is quite different from Phan Thiet. Here, the mornings are usually spent visiting communities, while the afternoons are dedicated to office work. I've been given a bicycle from the Thien Chi Center, which I can use to ride to the office myself. The route is only 1km, and I think that's awesome because it lets me explore the surroundings better too.

The office in Tanh Linh is still quite new, as the team only moved there about 6 months ago. In total, seven staff members are working at this location.

Since I’m vegetarian, it’s not always easy to find something to eat here. One of the staff members was really kind and drove me around after work to look for a place. We didn’t find anything vegetarian that evening, but at one place the woman working there offered to prepare something vegetarian for me the next day, which I thought was really kind and of course I said yes.

In the evening, I went for a walk to get a better impression of the town. It is quite small, but surrounded by beautiful mountains, which makes the scenery really nice.

I especially enjoy the weather here. In the evenings, it gets a bit windy and the temperature drops to around 22°C, which feels much more comfortable compared to Phan Thiet, where it stayed around 28°C even at night. During the day, it is still very hot (around 32–36°C), but the office has several fans, so it is manageable.
